Full text: James Baldwin (1924-1987) was an American poet and author. Born in New York City, he was well known for his essays and books about race and race relations in America, such as Go Tell It On the Mountain, Notes of a Native Son, and Remember This House (adapted for the screen as I Am Not Your Negro). Baldwin was involved with the Civil Rights Movement, and worked alongside leaders such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King.
