|Description:||Principal Simmons and clubs|
|Full text:||In the interest of ensuring the progress of all students, homeroom teachers helped students find a club that was a good fit for them. J. Andrew Simmons, Booker T. Washington’s principal from 1932 to 1945, believed that club involvement helped students form integrated personalities and succeed in the endeavors they were likely to take up after high school. Clubs helped students hone their interests and form their future ambitions, as well as make valuable interpersonal connections.|
