|Full text:||Agnes grew up in Ward One, a Columbia, SC voting district that was home to a predominately African American community. However, between the 1950s through 1970s, Ward One became the target of a racially oriented program of Urban Renewal implemented by the city of Columbia Housing Authority. The program ultimately benefitted the University of South Carolina, which sought to expand westward.|
