Description: Parallels text 2
Full text: Booker T. started out as an all-grades school, but it eventually developed into a junior-senior high school in 1924. From 1916 until 1948, Booker T. was the only high school for African-American people in Columbia. By the time its doors closed in 1974, nearly 90% of all African-American graduates in the city were alumni of Booker T. Washington.
